The Legacy

Mel D. Spangler, President of Spangler Concrete and Engineering Inc., is a second generation concrete contractor. Growing up with a trowel in his hand, Mr. Spangler learned his craft the old fashioned way, by working side-by-side with his father, a master concrete contractor out of Northern California. 

Fast forward to 1990 

After several years of refining and mastering his talents, Spangler Concrete and Engineering, Inc. was formed.  An exciting time since the industry was evolving with new methods of providing decorative concrete surfaces.  Stamping, staining and adding texture to concrete became an area of expertise which Mr. Spangler still concentrates his efforts towards, making his operation the premier concrete contractor in the North Bay executing these types of products and services.

While Spangler Concrete and Engineering, Inc. provide all types of concrete construction, it is the decorative, as well as, challenging projects that have always interested Mr. Spangler.  This strategy has helped Mr. Spangler build his operation to the size and stature it is today.

 Diversity in Concrete Contracts

In 1997, Mr. Spangler’s company took another step “up the ladder” of success and notoriety.  He expanded his work to include several reconstruction, as well as, newly built projects for the U.S. Government on bases located on Treasure Island, Alameda Island and Two Rock. 

Virtually on the heels of the completion of those government contracts, Mr. Spangler’s excellent reputation for his decorative concrete talents landed him the first of a long standing run of multi-million dollar projects which have not stopped yet.  These projects have included hundreds of thousands of square feet of site concrete, podium topping slabs, decorative stamped pedestrian and vehicular surfaces, miles of curb and gutter, retaining walls, foundations, vertical stamped surfaces, interior commercial and residential staining, fountains, barbeques and fire pits of all shapes and sizes, and the list goes on and is ever expanding.

Looking towards the future

Mr. Spangler’s company has grown to 40 employees strong with his Administrative Office centrally located in Petaluma, California to better serve the entire Bay Area.
